Judith once asked me how I put together my family menus, and I don't think I ever responded. It has evolved over the years, but my current strategy is this:
Monday - Chicken
Tuesday - Fish or Seafood
Wednesday - Meat
Thursday - Fish or Seafood
Friday - Pizza
Saturday - Roast Chicken or Pork Tenderloin
Sunday - Lunch varies, but dinner is Soup and Sandwiches
This framework helps me put together a specific menu before I go to the store every week. Also, in an effort to actually try some of the hundreds of recipes I have pulled out of magazines, I take out my stack of clippings every week, and pick out at least 3 recipes I've never tried before, and incorporate them into this menu.
We try them. If they aren't great, I shred them. If they are great, I write down the recipe in my little journal to make again.
Sample Menu for this week:
Monday - Chicken with Cashews in Lettuce Cups
Tuesday - Scallops with Sweet Cucumber and Mango Salsa
Wednesday - Chicken Fried Skirt Steak with Country Gravy, Green Beans, and Biscuits
Thursday - Miso Salmon
Friday - Sunday - Going out of town for the weekend
Sunday night - Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches

No More Bath Products
As you all know, on Friday night five of us got together in an attempt to clean out our closets, and 'swap stuff.' Surprisingly, this worked very well, and the majority of the things brought were not taken by somebody, but actually left for the garage sale. There were toys, books, clothes, cocktail napkins, decorative items, kitchen gadgets, and other wonderful treasures, but what was the most common item brought? Unopened bottles of bath products. Shower gels, lotion, body mist, body cream. Everyone make a note, do NOT buy your secret santa bath stuff; it will only end up at our next stuff swap party.
